    Hey Malc,

I feel like a total dunce for asking this question but, I need to. I am trying to set up my FTP with my domain info from Hostgator. I even asked them for a different password. I put in my info across the top in the 4 boxes with port: 21 and hit quick connect. It said it could not connect. I did not have my C-Panel open nor the SPM. Do I need to have logged into C-Panel? What step am I missing here?

    THank you,

    Deborah

    • Anonymous

Hi Deborah – are we talking FileZilla here? If so, what are the 4 bits of informaiton you are putting in?

      Port 21 should be ok.

      Malc

  • Dwarnett

Do you know if SPM works at Host Jester?

    Thank you.

    Deborah

    • Anonymous

      Hiya

Sorry – have not even heard of that host. Don’t know of anyone who has tested it.

    Hey Malc,

I cannot find videos 18, 19 & 20 for SPM. I watched your videos over on the SPM website as I am having trouble trying to get everything right between Filezilla & SPM.

    Thank you.

  • Christer Werklund

HeyMalc! How the f..k do I install SPM on a Mac? I can install the plugin but the appinstall is an exe file.

    • Anonymous

      Hi Christer

Please obscure your swear words a bit more than that. Thank you.

To install SPM on a Mac you need to create a partition on the hard disc, then install Windows in there. Depending on your Mac version there are two different options, I believe. Just Google it.

  • Scott

Hey Malc Hope your holidays have been great. I noticed when reading thru the post for SPM that I haven’t seen anything really mentioned about an install on existing blogs. I know that it is a manual install of the plugin and that’s no problem. I have one blog that has over 375 posts and another not as much.

Has there been any major issues with adding it to already existing blog? It would be nice to put those on auto posts as well.

    Thanks,
    Scott

    • Anonymous

      Hi Scott

At its root, SPM is an autoposter – the WP install and plugin installs are nice, but the autoposter is the best part in my view, and worth the most. As long as you have the settings right on page one of SPM – the paths etc – and as long as the SPM plugin is installed, it certainly should install to an existing self-hosted WP blog.

Good luck with that and all the best. If you need help with it Candi is your person – Jachbo.com

      Cheers

Thanks Malc. Now I noticed in some of the stuff I have read I don’t want to use more than 4 keywords as redirects to affiliate products and sites But there are about 2 dozen different and regularly used keywords and phrases I use. Any issue there?

        Thanks

What is the reason for that I wonder? I can only think people might be p**ed off with seeing too many links – but apart from that I don’t think there is a limit.

    hi Malk
I hate myself for beeing a neewbee… wht usually takes somebody 15 minutes to understand it took me 2 hours watching the filezilla video 18,19
boy am i bad at internet I wish i could have u on skype or have somebody teach me what i don’t know…..i will get theyre but slowly like a turttle it is frustrating… Wish i would be a genius like u and Candi

    • http://heymalc.com Malc

      Claudia

May I be honest? There are two sorts of newbies support staff see.

Firstly, there the small minority who haven’t got a clue and never will have. (Sorry those newbies…)

And secondly those who are new, but who are slowly but surely picking it up. There is no shame at all in this. These are the majority.

Which type you are can be hard to sort out. This is clouded by the fact that some who are picking it up slowly think ther are rubbish, when they are not – they just lack confidence. Maybe you are in this category, Claudia. If anyone might be, just think what you were like a few months ago – and now you are probably much better.

Some who have no chance of ever picking it up persist for ages, which is sad.

I think the key is: are you a bit better this month than you were last month – maybe 10% or more? If so – just keep it up. Work it out: in 12 months you will be 120% better :-)

If it’s 1% better each month…. maybe consider you options. :-|

Hope this is not too harsh.
      :-)

Hi. i installed a new blog in my site, after doing all the manual spm installation as per video, I can not activate the pluggins. I should be able to view my blog at http://www.mywebsite.com/myblog/wp-admin, but when I enter this on the address bar the result is that it does not exist. when I go to my hostes account and access the directory from there I see it, but can not acces wordpress to activate the pluggins. please advise. thank you.

    Hi Malc,
Have received a responce to my ticket from STM, they suggest you might be able to assist.

Have set up a domain with ONE.COM however the advise that Fantastico is not supported by them. Can you advise how I can process my SPM download onto the Cpanel.

    Best regards
    Charles

    • http://heymalc.com Malc

Charles – sorry for late reply: the spam filter for some reason pulled you out :-(

You need to find out how to install WordPress with your new host, then probably you need to install it manually (search for the host’s instructions). Then get SPM to work putting in the ftp settings.

      Hope this helps.
      Malc

  • Steve Ferns

    Hiya

Don’t know if this is coming up elsewhere, but when i try to install the new verions of SPM I get this error message and – yes I have uninstalled SPMv1.1 and restarted the PC

Cannot Install: SETUP or INSTALL program filename contains folder information. Use Actions/Check Out instead.

I’ve taken a screen shot in JING and attached but don’t know if you can open that. But that’s what it says anyway.

The programme aborts at that stage and having uninstalled the old one I can’t use it at all which is a bit frustrating.

One further question; once this is resolved do I have to reinstall the plug ins or will they still work anyway.

    Thanks

    Steve

    • http://heymalc.com Malc

      Steve

      Google it ;-)

I did and I think I found your answer in 10 seconds. (Hint: it’s related to zip files).

      Come back if not.

And plugins – no, once they are there they are there.

      • Steve Ferns

You’re a star, don’t know why I didn’t think of that. It wasn’t quite that straightforward – is it ever – but yeah all works again.

        Cheers Malc

  • Don Driscoll

I have added the plug-in to an existing blog of mine but when I go to settings and click on the plug-in , it appears but without the buttons on the right hand side, so I can’t save keyword and Clickbank URL.
    What can I do?

    • http://heymalc.com Malc

Don – don’t know this problem. Has anyone else had this??

It does sound like some sort of setup error, but can’t help more than that, off hand.

You could try setting up another blog and see if you can replicate the error. You could get Candace Booker (see link top of page) to troubleshoot it for you.

      Hope this helps.

      Malc

      • Don Driscoll

Strange nobody else seems to have this problem. The plug-in works OK on two sites but not on others. Might be best to forget about the plug-in.

        • http://heymalc.com Malc

Suppose you have tried deleted, re-downloading (latest version :-) 1.1 1.2 ) and reinstalling?

          M

          • http://www.free-from-anxiety.com Don Driscoll

Yes have deleted and reinstalled and uploaded the plugin to two other sites. It doesn’t work on them either.

  • Toni Shafer

    Hi Malc,

Sorry to bother, but I have successfully installed SPM to my domain on justhost. The program did not install the WP files, so I did that manually with the whopping one click in my CP. Everything else has worked beautifully until I get to the content tab. It’s there, but any keyword or phrase I put in, says there are no results found for “keyword” or phrase. Nowjust to see if my niche keyword is really that unheard of, I’ve played around with a number of popular keywords and I’m certain that “internet marketing” has a few (much more than a few) so I’m stumped.

I’m wondering if I missed something, if it actually didn’t install the plugins correctly or what.

I hate to post if this subject has been covered, but I have searched and can’t seem to find anyone else with this problem.

Thanks in advance to you or anyone else who can answer :)

    • http://heymalc.com Malc

      Hi Toni

Sounds like you might have not upgraded to v1.1 of the SPM software. (Now v1.3, Nov 16th)

      Malc

  • Steve Ferns

    Hiya

I know you’re really tied up with work but I’ve left a support ticket for SPM (all day yesterday)and I’ve now solved most of the problems by deleting everything and reinstalling.

But one thing it just won’t do is post content it finds it, selects it then when hit post it says auto content poster ready and just sits there. I found an earlier post on here about the wp-sender.php file and that is in the right place (I think) but it won’t have it at all. thanks for your help

    Steve

    • http://heymalc.com Malc

Hi Steve. The wp-sender needs to be at level of wp-admin folder.

Have you got v 1.1 of SPM installed? If it has a word count on the content tab, it’s v.1.0 and won’t work.

      M

      • Steve Ferns

I have 1.1 yes and the wp-sender is in the correct location I’ ve tried every combination as you suggested elsewhere on your site but when I click on “post selected articles” it changes to auto poster ready and goes no further, I suppose I could post articles manually but that sort of defeats the object. I’m using windows vista if that makes any difference.

    Hey Malc

Me again, less than 10 minutes after u don’t want to know what I have been through with my 10 hours full time job, checked with Filezilla client with the IP address and changed the username too, I finally installed plugins. Wow wow wow I could not believed it myself ;-)
    Thank you everyone and Fiona.
Now one more to go. Catch u guys later.
P/S Don’t give up. It really works

    Hey Malc
    Thank you Fiona
I have been struggling to install wordpress numerous time for hours, checked the details over and over again changing them as it goes and the answer was waiting for that green little stretch on the left hand corner which as easy as claimed 30 seconds but it went on and on non stop. Finally contacted hostgater and got that solved through Fantastico which takes about a few seconds. Then installing the theme was a breeze
After hours for 3 days with not much sleep never giving up tried to installed the famous FTP but failed. Did all possible solution, contact live chat with hostgator a few times but it did not help. On my 4th day send to support help and 5th day got an answer which I don’t really understand, well not much of a help, also told to look in Malc new version and came to this comments blog and tried Fiona’s idea using the IP address in the ftphost which is in hostgater homepage.
The Filezilla which I tried also for days  now just use the IP address and boom it works. Thanks Fiona.
I will now go to the install plugins and will keep you guys update. ;-)
    What a relieve finally
P/S Its really not as easy as it says for newbies like us

Malc, I am totally confused and the more I read the more confused I become, I must be one of the thick ones because all this jargon is just double dutch to me. I have been all this time and only managed to install word press  I really want to get this running as I am desperate for money being an OAP. I don’t have a website but I understand you make one for me, I own a domain name which I have had for about 11 years but never used and apart from that I am a complete novice at this. HELP!!! Joe Brand

    • http://heymalc.com Malc

      Joe

I realise this is double dutch to you – I remember we talked before when I worked on SPM support. (Wow – I put some long hours in there. One day 5.30 am to 4am).

Anyway, here’s an idea. Go to fiverr.com and you will find loads of people there willing to do just about anything for $5. You WILL – I am sure – find someone who will agree to install SPM for you for $5.

I went there to get an article re-written 5 times once – yes, for $5!!! – and I noticed that someone was offering to marry you for $5! I didn’t take them up – just telling you cos you can get amazing things at fiverr for – well, a fiver.

      Just a thought….

      Hope it helps, Malc

    Hey Malc,
You keep telling us to go to support, They keep telling us to come to you.WTH? I am trying to install the new version on a lineux system,(I guess thats right non techi here.)anyhow I use mattiblaze hosting its like hostgator I think in most ways, anyhow how do I get the correct set up download? I am totally lost programmer tells me that new version is a .net setup and will not work on lineux system can you email some instructions to me so I can forward them to my programmer? Thanks

    • http://heymalc.com Malc

      Scott

SPM support is official support. I am unofficial – I will help courteous visitors and members if I can. And users exchange ideas between each other here too.

      - Another user used Mattieblaze successfully.
      - SPM has always used .net framework 3.5.
      - I have Linux hosting and it installs ok for me.
Not sure what you want instructions for exactly. SPM pdf comes with the programme. And all the info on HeyMalc blog is there for you to print off.

      M

      • http://lifetimeprofitsxs2.com scott white

I will try going back over the pdf and retry manual install, could be I am just missing something in my frustration of trying to get this to work. I think this is going to be great once I get it going. Thanks for the input.

  • http://www.clickbank-affiliatex.com Fiona

This may help someone with some of the problems I found a work around for the hosting company. “http://www.crazydomains.com.au”, sorry I do not know some of the technical jaron,
First I had to create the blog with fantistico manually, then I placed my ftp number eg 12.34.56.78 in the ftp host box instead of the words, ftp @ testing.com, I had to add a permalink.php file from another blog and the misc.php file as these were missing. In the Blog admin I had to change the permalinks to day and name and also the time zone to the correct time.
I had to load SPM manually through filezilla, but the other plugins all installed file through SPM. the content would not load and then I added the wp-sender.php file manually and hey presto it works like a charm……took a bit to do but works really good now, I tried it a second time to test again and it worked again… may help someone

I have read through all the posts but dont seem to see this issue so here goes, I totally uninstalled everything did the CCleaner twice, then reloaded the software. It finally gets further than saying to check remote blah, blah, blah. Now you I get to install part and it just stays at loggin in and doesn’t go ay further. So then I do the reverse with Filezilla, enter all pertinent info and no problems connecting. What do I do now, I have done these steps maybe 9 times last night and again 4 times this morning to get same results.

\\\\\\\i am not a techie, and now lost, thank you!!!!!!!!!!!

    • http://heymalc.com Malc

Get to support. The will say: “send a screen shot of your first page of SPM, plus 3 x passwords – Cpanel, Blog and FTP”. So save yourself an additional exchange and provide it first time. Also, be specific about exactly where you are when it gets stuck, and what error message is. “Now you I get to install part and…” is a little confusing. :-|

sorry, I forgot, I did uninstall and reinstall the new version of spm as per the instructions on the members page.

  • jean

Well, I have stopped doing cartwheels…I was able to get my blog installed, other plugins installed, got the ok that the spm software was installed, then went into my dashboard to tweak my spm stuff and it wasn’t there, so now when I am trying to install it on another blog, I get past the unzipping, unpluggin, then come to a dead stop at logging in. Is this still the ftp setting? I was getting directory error messages, until I got the ftp stuff right or so I thought, I would really like this to be working soon, I have seriously neglected my laundry pile trying to get this up and running, any help would be very much appreciated,

    Thanks,

    • Candi Booker

      Harold

Uninstall SPM through your control panel and then reinstall with the version released today. I caught this last night and told Malc just before everyone started discovering it also. The new version works great now.

      • Harold

Thanks Candi, I got that problem solved late last night. Now I’m trying to figure out why my keywords are not HOT when I link them in the SPM plugin. Any ideas? I would appreciate the help.

This should be the last step for me to have SPM monetized.
        Thanks again

        • Harold

Thanks again for all the help. I solved the link problem. Every time I add a link it has to be unique from the others. You can’t use blog1 for every entry. So I just went blog1, blog2, blog3…etc. This is absolutely awesome. Now all I have to do is keep planting my links and watch the money roll in.

Hello Malc, Thanks for answering me! I would love it if you can create a video as you did for the other applications on a “manual install to an exsisting blog”….That would be fabulous, and I would deeply appreciate it!!!!!! Regards, Randa

  • Raymond

Hi Malc. I am stuck adding the stealth profit machine plugin. It says: “make sure the remote directory is correct”. I went back to Installwordpress tab and under FTP Details I made sure that I put the correct FTP host, ftp username and ftp password. I left remote blog directory blank because where it says install in directory at the top, I had left it blank at the beginning just let the first video explains. I am confused and can’t moved on. I looked all over here and on the members area for a solution but no where does it actually tells me what to do. All i know is that you said that 99% of the time is because the ftp details are wrong but I even copy and pasted my user name and password that was send from my hosting company. So what am I doing wrong?

    • http://heymalc.com Malc

Hi Raymond. I think you are right – the FTP details are very likely wrong. Check using Filezilla – watch the videos above – that’s why I made them. :-) If you can log in fine with your FTP client and cannot puzzle it out, go to support and give them full details- including 3 x passwords. Ta M

  • randa

Hello Malc, I uploaded the SPM directly to an exsisting site through the plugin as a plugin. I just don’t know how to configure it, also it is missing the link builder, plus I am not sure how to have it upload the content through the desktop wizard. Can this be done, or is it only for new installations?

Thanks for all your help…..Regards, Randa K.

    • http://heymalc.com Malc

Hi Randa – there are two parts to the software: SPM and the SPM WP plugin. The auto content is done by SPM. You need it installed – then just fill in the 4 bottom field with the correct FTP info and it should post on auto. Hit support with further queries. :-)

Hi Sid – good to hear from you again! Thanks for your compliments.

The CF software is not my baby :-)

I didn’t even know I was helping on support until ten days ago :-| But it is always good helping Chris – if a teeny bit frustrating sometimes.

Take care Sid and see you again soon.

      Keep drinking the wine ;-)
