The truth is, the sooner you master sales funnels, the sooner you are likely to be successful in Internet marketing.
A simple sales funnel usually sets out to give a free front-end product with an upsell to the paid product. (“Front-end” just means the first thing the customer asks for. And the “upsell” is the follow-up paid for product which the vendor is hoping to make some money out of.)
There is no reason why you can’t create both of these products yourself – the front end and the upsell – without massive effort.
The steps are:
- Choose your niche
- Create a really good quality product to give away for free
- Create an even better product to sell for a moderate price.
You really need to just get this thing going and not mess around, wasting time.
Most niches lend themselves to this sort of approach. And if you get it organised quickly, then even if you got the niche wrong you can tweak it and change your niche later. But you will have learned a lot.
Making A Product
Your product does not have to be complex and time-consuming. One of the best products can be a training series which you make a lot of on the fly.
Let’s say you sell training on how to do something in your particular niche. You can sell five trainings via Google Hangout then deliver them over the next five weeks.
Of course, you want to have a rough plan of all five, but you’d be wise to leave yourself room to modify them, depending on the feedback you got from the people who had bought. In this way, you’d only need to have the first one fully finished before you can feel comfortable selling your course.
Yes, it will be a stress! But the point is, you’ll mess up: but you’ll only have a small audience and they’ll probably be forgiving.
2-3 months later, repeat the whole thing: it will be ten times easier, you’ll have much more of the material ready, and you can even increase the price.
A Product Launch
A great way to sell such a product is via a product launch.
How to do this without a list – or with a very small list – is covered brilliantly by Jeff Walker in his excellent book “Launch”, which I have recommended recently. The Kindle version is cheap – very cheap.
Click on the book image to the left before buying the book from Amazon, and you’ll get several bonuses directly from Jeff Walker. If you go straight to Amazon, you’ll miss out on these.
Some other tools you will benefit from when setting up your funnel include:
Lead Pages – for setting up your squeeze pages in a jiffy.
Then for building up your list and sending out emails:
Aweber to start with, then upgrade yourself to:
Ontraport allows you to queue follow-up emails but only send them to “unopens”, for example – those who haven’t read your first send-out. That’s invaluable.
Yes, you can do this with Aweber etc – but only if you remind yourself to login after the first sendout and mess around with filters. With Ontraport you can set up this whole thing in advance – literally in a few clicks. You can even set different subject lines (and I recommend you do so).
Ontraport is also very, very user-friendly – much more intuitive than Aweber or any “autoresponders” of that ilk.
I’m not knocking Aweber – it is fine to start off your business with. And many successful marketers continue to use it even when you’d think they would have moved on. Once you are “earning”, you limit your profits if you don’t change to Ontraport.
If you want to know more detail about Ontraport, here’s my Ontraport Review. Check it out.

Make Your Own Product
So please consider creating your own products and setting up your own sales funnel. It’s the quickest way to success. And do secure your bonuses from Jeff Walker’s site, then get and read the book.
